DAMILOLA YOUTH SET TO EMBARK ON FIRST MAJOR PROJECT

Good luck to Damilola Youth (the Youth Board for the Damilola Taylor Trust) who are set to embark on their first major project since joining the Trust.  It has been difficult start for the team who began their first term in early 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they are primed and ready to launch an exciting new initiative – watch this space for more details!

Consisting of eight young people aged between 18 and 30 years old, Damilola Youth ensure that the needs and concerns of young people are at the heart of the Trust’s work.

Damilola Youth do this by:

  • Engaging with young people in the community to identify concerns and emerging issues of interest.

  • Developing projects that reflect the needs of young people and have the voice of young people at its heart.

  • Fundraising to support the Damilola Taylor Trust and its work.

Damilola Youth come from a wide range of backgrounds and all boast an impressive array of skills. Two members of the group played crucial roles in the Hope 2020 legacy campaign including facilitating discussions and workshops around the hopes and aspirations young people, and the professional and personal barriers that they face as they work towards achieving these goals.

Olivia, Chair of Damilola Youth, said: “It is an honour and a privilege to be part of the Trust and we are excited about the different projects that we have in the pipeline, particularly around creating greater digital influence through social media and online networking and collaboration. We are keen to engage with as many young people as we can, amplifying their voice to ensure that key issues are highlighted and addressed.”

Richard Taylor OBE said, “Young people are our future and I am confident that this inspirational group will create waves of change. As a Trust, we look forward to working shoulder to shoulder with them as we provide hope and opportunity for young people today.”
