Thanks to funding from the Damilola Taylor Trust, Lyca Mobile UK, the Akwa-Ibom State Government and Nigeria Custom Services, a new library was built for a primary school in Nigeria close to where Damilola grew up.

The primary school is in the rural community of Lagos State called Ishasi Town along the Badagry Express Road of IBA Local Government Development Council, Lagos State of Nigeria.

An old classroom building that was in a severe state of disrepair was demolished to make way for a new library building, creating a much needed space for the children to study. The new library was named the ‘Damilola Taylor Library Resource Centre’ in memory of Damilola Taylor.

Richard Taylor OBE said: “This project is very close to my heart as it was where Damilola grew up. The new library, built in Damilola’s name, has made an incredible difference to the children and we are looking at how we can continue to support this special school in the future.”
