The City Career Pathway Programme 

In collaboration with Lysis Financial Ltd, this programme enabled young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to undertake paid internships and work experience in the City of London.

At the Damilola Taylor Trust, we believe that every young person should have the chance to pursue a career of their choice. However, research shows that people from more affluent backgrounds consistently take a disproportionate number of the best jobs. In addition to this, overall, employers tend to favour graduates who went to private schools and elite universities. 

This programme promoted diversity and social mobility in the workplace. Young people were mentored by a City professional in financial services and investment banking. Working alongside their mentor, they were given a valuable insight into the industry and explored different roles including anti-money laundering and IT support.
