Damilola – Our boy of hope

November 27, 2020 by Richard Taylor in Uncategorized

“It is hard to believe that it has been 20 years since we lost our beloved Damilola. The pain of losing our youngest son will never go away and I would like to thank everybody for their kindness and messages of support during this difficult time.

When we set up the Damilola Taylor Trust, it was to provide hope. Every young person deserves a life filled with hopes and dreams. Through the Trust, we strive to create positive change and show young people that they matter, that they can and should pursue their dreams. We provide them with the opportunity to take control of their lives and make a change for the better. Young people have the right to live their lives free of fear and violence, to face the future with confidence and optimism. We give them that choice.

Damilola had ambition, he wanted to change the world. He was a boy of hope and our Hope 2020 legacy campaign celebrates that. It shines a light on the aspirational stories of young people, on the kind of positive young person that our Damilola was turning into. After 20 years, this is how I would like him to be remembered, as a boy of hope. Our boy of hope.”
